Story telling has always been a part of who I am at my core. Eventually, my love of storytelling became a career as an artist telling visual stories. But, my love of writing never faded. In 2018 I graduated from university with a BA in English, and I never stopped writing.

Finally, during the shutdown in 2020, I had nothing but time and I started writing what would become my debut novel. I found myself writing something different than the fantasy I've always been drawn to. A contemporary romance...and I found so much joy in asking ‘what if’ in the boundaries of our world. It was short and quick, but it was what got me through those first few months of lockdown.

That story sat in the back of my mind, until I decided it was worth shooting my shot to see if I would enjoy self-publishing. I already had this small, quick novel written–why not see what would happen? Shoot Your Shot was born.

I still don’t think this is my soul book: I have a drawer full of fantasy manuscripts that whisper to me quietly, demanding their time come soon. While those projects simmer on the back burners of my mind, I’ve played. I’ve written this project and published it. I’ve outlined other contemporary novels you may get to read one day. I’ve challenged and destigmatized my feelings on writing romance and found this story just as worthy as anything else I’ve written.

Truly, I cannot wait to share the stories I’ve spent most of my life writing. However, every story starts with a beginning, and Shoot Your Shot is mine. Thank you for reading it.
